Endourology Fellowship Description The University Of Wisconsin

Introduction:

The Wisconsin program is a one year, academically-based endourology and laparoscopy fellowship, with emphasis on a significant research component. The objective of the fellowship is to train our fellows to become endourologists in an academic setting.

Fellowship description:

The fellow is responsible for coverage of all endourology cases on his/her operating room days. The fellow may be asked to interact with our residents during certain cases, but as "teaching faculty". The fellow will have 2 days per week for designated reseach activity. The fellow will be involved with percutaneous access procedures under the guidance of interventional radiology. The fellow will participate in our metabolic stone clinic, which has seen over 750 patients with recurrent stone disease under the guidance of nephrologists and dieticians. The fellow has the option of becoming involved with the brachytherapy program. The fellow must have at least one laboratory project and submit a competitive manuscript to the Journal of Endourology essay contest by the end of the fellowship period. The fellow will not take resident call, but may have junior faculty status and take limited staff call. The fellow is encouraged to apply for an AFUD scholarship as part of his/her fellowship year. .

Fellowship requirements:

Completion of an accredited residency in Urology, eligibility for license in the state of Wisconsin. Fellowship acceptance is via the endourology match, and an interview is recommended. Salary and beneifits are equivalent to senior level residents at our institution.
